Project name: WildTrax

Dataset summary : Purpose of the Study: Ecological reconnaissance and inventory. Individual Owner: Canadian Wildlife Service, Environment and Climate Change Canada (Project lead - P. Sinclair) Article Citation: Sinclair, P., J. Staniforth, B. Slough, and S. Oystryk. 2004. Ecological inventory and assessment of Black Terns at Blind Lake, Yukon, June 2003. Unpublished report, Canadian Wildlife Service, Whitehorse Yukon. Study Area: Near Blind Lake, Southern Yukon, Canada Period of Study: 27 June 2003 4:26-7:50 am on 27 June. General Methodology: 10 Point Counts were conducted around the southwest corner of the lake from 4:26-7:50 am on 27 June. Point Counts were 200 m apart, and all birds seen and heard during two consecutive 5-minute count periods were recorded at each point, along with behaviour, and estimated distance from the point. Observer for all point counts was Pam Sinclair. Information recorded which isn't in WildTrax: For every point count: Temperature, wind, cloud cover. For every detection: Sex, quadrat, behaviour/detection type Note that this is quite late in the breeding season and the counts were very quiet. Bounding coordinates of the study area 60.0 to 60.1 deg N; 128.2 to 128.3 deg W (decimal degrees). Data was initially standardized for the BAM Version 4 SQL database. This was converted to BAM Version 6 Microsoft Access database in 2020 by updating the table structure. Finally, this data was moved to the WildTrax PostgreSQL database between 2021 to 2022 where it is accessible through the secure WildTrax website. As of 31 March 2022, data uploaded by BAM does not include some metadata. This metadata will become available in the near future following the necessary WildTrax updates. Please contact bamp@ualberta.ca if you require this metadata."
