Manitoba Nocturnal Owl Survey
Terms and Conditions
Site access:
Access to the Manitoba Nocturnal Owl Survey data entry site is restricted to registered participants of the Manitoba Nocturnal Owl Survey for the purpose of submitting and accessing their own survey data. There is no cost to participate in the program, but volunteers must be willing to perform at least 1 visit per season to a survey site along a route pre-assigned by the project coordinator in your area. The web site also includes a public portion where the general public will be able to access results from the survey.
For more information on the Manitoba Nocturnal Owl Survey, or to find out where you may be able to help, contact us or visit http://www.gov.mb.ca/conservation/wildlife/managing/mon_owl.html.
Data ownership:
Data collected and maps published as part of the Manitoba Nocturnal Owl Survey are freely available but they remain the property of Manitoba Conservation and its funding partners and may not be reproduced for publication without the consent of Manitoba Conservation. Data submitted to the Manitoba Nocturnal Owl Survey will be reviewed by ornithological experts. The Manitoba Nocturnal Owl Survey reserves the right to include or exclude data submitted to the project.
Personal information of participants (including address, email and phone number) will not be shared with third parties, and will only be available to Manitoba Conservation, or other partners designated by Manitoba Conservation that are involved in the project coordination (including Birds Canada), and only for project-related communications.
Other:
Unless you indicate otherwise to us in writing, you accept that your name may be included in data summaries, reports or any data product derived from the survey database where appropriate.
Injury Liability:
As a volunteer participant in the Manitoba Nocturnal Owl Survey you are fully responsible for your own safety, and for your own personal insurance in case of injury. You are not considered an employee of Manitoba Conservation or any of our partners or sponsors. Please exercise great caution and care in the field when collecting data. We are also not responsible for damage incurred to vehicles while conducting surveys
