Maritimes Piping Plover Survey
Terms and Conditions
Site access: Access to the Maritimes Piping Plover Survey entry site is restricted to registered participants of the NB & NS Piping Plover Conservation Program for the purpose of submitting and accessing their own survey data. There is no cost to participate in the program. Survey data will be used to inform recovery of endangered Piping Plovers in NB and NS, including assessing population and distribution trends and targeting habitat management and stewardship actions to address threats. Annual data summaries can be found on the program web site. Data ownership: Data collected and maps published as part of the NB & NS Piping Plover Conservation Program remain the property of Birds Canada and its funding partners and may not be reproduced for publication without the consent of Birds Canada. Data submitted to the Program will be reviewed by ornithological experts. The Program reserves the right to include or exclude data submitted to the project. Personal information of participants (including address, email and phone number) will not be shared with third parties, and will only be available to Birds Canada, or other partners designated by BSC that are involved in the project coordination (e.g. regional coordinator), and only for project-related communications. Unless you indicate otherwise to us in writing, you accept that your name may be included in data summaries, reports or any data product derived from the survey database where appropriate.
Injury Liability: As a volunteer participant in the NB & NS Piping Plover Conservation Program you are fully responsible for your own safety, and for your own personal insurance in case of injury. You are not considered an employee of Birds Canada or any of our partners or sponsors. Please exercise great caution and care in the field when collecting data. We are also not responsible for damage incurred to vehicles while conducting surveys.
