Project NestWatch
Terms and Conditions

Site access: Access to the Project NestWatch data entry site is restricted to registered participants of the Project NestWatch for the purpose of submitting and accessing their own survey data. There is no cost to participate in the program.

Data ownership:

Personal information of participants (including address, email and phone number) will not be shared with third parties, and will only be available to Birds Canada, or other partners designated by BSC that are involved in the project coordination (e.g. regional coordinator), and only for project-related communications.

Unless you indicate otherwise to us in writing or through your online profile, you accept that your name may be included in datasummaries, reports or any data product derived from the atlas database whereappropriate.

The participant hereby grants Birds Canada (hereafter BSC) a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, transferable, worldwide license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, and display any information provided during the course of their atlas activities and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, software or technology now known or later developed. The participant shall not be restricted in their ability to use the data they collect as they see fit, for any other purpose.

Safety:

All participants must comply with the Nest Monitoring Code of Conduct to ensure bird safety and minimize disturbance.

As a volunteer participant in the Project NestWatch you are fully responsible for your own safety, and for your own personal insurance in case of injury. You are not considered an employee of the Birds Canada, or any of our partners or sponsors. Please exercise great caution and care in the field when collecting data, please be respectful and exercise caution when treading on private land.
