Welcome to the Québec Nocturnal Owl Survey Data entry page
Due to their secretive nature and nocturnal habits, owls are not well-monitored by traditional programs such as the Breeding Bird Survey, Migration Monitoring, and Christmas Bird Counts. Information on owl distribution and abundance is essential for developing sound conservation strategies, identifying species in need of conservation action, and evaluating the effectiveness of management programs.

Across Canada, a 1000-strong team of dedicated Citizen Scientists spend an enjoyable spring evening outdoors counting owls along quiet back roads.  Their effort ensures that we monitor the distribution, abundance, population trends and habitat associations of these important nocturnal species.
