The best source of information on the population status of Warbling Vireo is the Breeding Bird Survey (BBS). Although the northernmost portion of its range is poorly covered, precision is high, and overall reliability of the BBS is considered medium. The national BBS trend shows a large long-term increase in abundance since the early 1970s, although it has largely stabilized since around 2010.  At a regional level, increases have occurred in all Canadian Bird Conservation Regions that host the species and for which there are reasonably reliable results, except south-central British Columbia where little change has occurred, and central Ontario and Quebec, which has seen a moderate decline.

The goal for Warbling Vireo is to remain at or above its recent population level, based on the Breeding Bird Survey. Trend data show that Warbling Vireo is currently within its goal range.
