The main objective of Mission Monarch is to locate and quantify monarch reproduction habitats in North America.
The Mission Monarch protocol consists in looking at milkweed plants and documenting the abundance of monarchs at any life stage. Examined milkweed stems and monarchs are counted. Number of examined milkweed stems is up to the observer.

All observations are vetted by a regional expert. Prior to upload into the TMKN, data are screened to remove duplicates and outliers.All removed observations can be requested to the data owner.
