The objective of this project was to evaluate the magnitude of bias that might be created by sampling with ARUs in the interior of a quarter-section relative to placing the ARUs in convenient locations at the edge of quarter-sections. A total of 200 ARUs were placed in 100 pairs located at an edge of a quarter-section while the other was placed 300 – 400 metre away near the centre of the quarter-section. Each quarter-section was dominated by either a single agricultural crop or was dominated by native or planted grasses and was used for cattle grazing.
