The Snowy Egret breeds primarily in the southern United States, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, but occasionally extends to southern Canada. Breeding has been confirmed in Ontario (Cadman et al., 2007) and Manitoba (DeSmet, 2018), and there have been breeding season sightings in the Maritimes (Parsons and Master, 2000). However, the presence of Snowy Egret in Canada remains irregular, and even in peak years, the number of individuals present is almost certainly <1% of the global population, representing very low Canadian responsibility for the species. Data are currently insufficient to estimate trends or set a goal for the Canadian population.
